Planning to start a family

Postby Ashley28 » Tue Aug 20, 2019 7:47 pm

We are planning to start a family within the next year and I am curious what steps others have taken in the beginning stages. I have multiple cavernous malformations that MRIs have shown bled in my brain with no symptoms, and I had two surgeries in 2014 to remove cavernous malformations in my brain stem and spinal cord that caused hemorrhagic strokes and severe symptoms. My mom, aunts, and grandma all had to have surgeries as well so we know mine are genetic.

My OBGYN isn't super familiar with CMs, but she said she thought I might have to do IVF to test the eggs beforehand and only implant those without the genetic mutation. Has anyone had experience with this? Or information their doctor has provided about that option vs natural pregnancy? Also, what sort of doctor did you see to discuss options?
