Here are the highlights:
Friday, March 25th
7 pm – 9 pm: Evening get-together at Savannah Hollis’ home (address/directions to be provided after you register)
Saturday, March 26th
9 am – 12 pm: Fun Run/Walk at T.W. Richardson Grove Park to benefit Angioma Alliance with lunch at the park. The Mayor of Irving, Texas has officially proclaimed March 26th as Cavernous Angioma Awareness Day in the city, and we expect citizens of the greater Dallas area to participate in the event. It would be wonderful to have a good turnout of Angioma Alliance members to raise awareness of the illness.
1 pm – 5 pm: Presentations by Dr. Duke Samson, neurosurgeon, and Dr. Jessica Lee, neurologist, from the University of Texas Southwestern as well as smaller conversation groups to allow us to share our experiences. This portion of the meeting will be held at the Hyatt Place Dallas/Las Colinas.
Evening – On your own to rest or get out in the vibrant Las Colinas area.
Sunday, March 27th
9 am – 12 pm: Presentations by Angioma Alliance Scientific Officer Dr. Amy Akers and a speaker to be announced as well as a second round of conversation groups. This will again be at Hyatt Place.
Our meeting room is limited to 60 people – to avoid disappointment, please register early!
Registration for the entire weekend with the exception of the Fun Run/Walk will be $45 per adult. Registration for Fun Run/Walk participants is an additional $15 and includes a t-shirt and the satisfaction of knowing you are helping Angioma Alliance drive research for a cure. You can register using a credit card or check.
Children are welcome at the Friday evening get-together and the Saturday Fun Run/Walk. If your children are attending the Fun Run/Walk and would like a t-shirt, you should register them just for this part of the weekend. Otherwise, you do not need to pay a registration fee. The presentations, particularly the surgery presentation, are not suitable for young kids – they usually contain some video of an actual surgery. If teenagers are coming to the presentations, they should be registered as an adult.
Please let us know on the registration form if you need childcare, how many children will be with you, and their ages. We have a volunteer who has offered to provide childcare in her home which is a 15 minute drive from the hotel. We will need to work out logistics once we know how many children are attending. The ages of the kids will in part determine how many children can be accommodated. Childcare would be free.
Where to Stay
We have not reserved a block of rooms at any particular hotel in order to allow the widest range of choices for attendees. That said, at this time, Hyatt Place Las Colinas (phone: 972-550-7200) offers King, Double, and King wheelchair accessible suites with continental breakfast for $98/night with internet pre-purchase or for $109 with regular purchase. Hyatt Place offers a complimentary Dallas Fort Worth airport shuttle and a complimentary shuttle to anywhere within a 5 mile radius of the hotel, including Savannah Hollis’ home for the Friday evening get together and TW Richardson Grove Park for the Saturday morning Fun Run/Walk.
